Literature Text

Distance stretching into forever,
Drifting across the sand and snow,
Bonds to form, bonds to sever,
The path is rough, travel is slow.

You may be used,
You may respected,
Some will be abused,
Some will be protected.

You must journey on,
Alone or by companion,
Over the next hill lies dawn,
Venture through field and canyon.

Just remember, all things end,
You may be without a friend,
But eventually you'll ascend,
You will achieve that goal…

And you will transcend.

Comrade, may fortune follow where you go.

The same goes to you, my bitterest foe.

Journey on.
Saw someone else submit some writing on Journey, so I thought I would contribute. :3

This poem was inspired by something recent that happened while I was playing Journey. FEEL FREE TO READ THIS SLIGHT RANT. REALLY. IT INSPIRED ME SO...]: >

I enjoy helping people in Journey. I am a very loyal partner and chose to stick around no matter how annoying or otherwise the other player is. I don't mind it at all, it's just something I enjoy. >3<

However, in my last play through I met a player that well...did something I had not encountered before. They traveled pleasantly with me until the end of the Temple. I showed them where the hidden symbol and glyphs were and we continued on to the end of the level. After receiving the vision, the other player signaled that they wanted to sit down and wait. I assumed they were going to go AFK but...They simply vanished.

In other words, the person probably got the final symbol and had quit the level just to go back and get the white cloak rather than finish with me.

But being the loyal companion I was, I sat and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited some more. I even paused my game and went to take a little break, hoping my old partner would show up. I returned. There was no one.

It was devastating to have to go into the snowy area on my own. I like to have someone with me in that level, just to keep both of us warm. But in the cold and dark alone, I could barely see my own breath. I didn't know how far I could get on my own...

But then I found another person, and while this player didn't seem interested in my help, I still stuck by their side. Even when they rushed far ahead of me once we reached the mountain, I didn't let them out of my sight.

The moral of this story is just as I said in my poem. I was angry with the other player who abandoned me for a long time, but you know what? I figured it out. Not every partner you have in Journey is going to be perfect. You'll eventually meet that troll or arsehole that won't give a crap about you. This is what you should remember:

No matter where you are in life, you will take a journey. Sometimes you won't be alone, but you must always remember, it's you that has to finish the journey. You may lose people close to you and form grudges, but if you linger, you will never finish what you started.

And in this journey of life, you can't just stop. You have to finish it. No matter what.
